Samuel Sarr has been in police custody at the Colobane Research Section since last Friday. He was arrested at Aibd when he returned from a trip to Dubai. The CEO of West African Energy (Wae), a power plant project, is being prosecuted for misuse of corporate assets. The complainant: businessman Moustapha Ndiaye, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wae, who blames the accused for a transaction of 2 billion CFA francs that he considers dubious.
As part of the investigation by the Research Section, the current CEO of Senelec, Papa Toby Gaye, was heard. The latter was interviewed for “simple information” in his capacity as representative of Senelec, a strategic shareholder of Wae with 15% of the project,” specifies L’Observateur, which provides the information.
Moustapha Ndiaye’s complaint goes back a long way. Samuel Sarr was also interviewed twice by investigators, according to the newspaper. The first time was on November 14. “Accompanied by his lawyer, Mr. Baboucar Cissé, he denied the accusations and promised to provide proof [of his innocence],” rewinds the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group, citing the defense.
The former Minister of Energy will return to the Research Section the next day, at 3 p.m., specifies L’Observateur. Which reports: “Samuel Sarr showed up again, the [promised] documents in hand, hoping to dispel the charges against him.”
The CEO of Wae met the gendarme investigators again last Friday. But this time, he did not leave their premises free on the same day as the two previous ones. L’Observateur announces that he should be interviewed this Monday, November 25.
