UDP’s NBR Spokesperson Likens Sabally to Political Opportunist

By: Binta Jaiteh

Karamo Njie, the UDP spokesperson for North Bank Region has described Momodou Sabally as a political opportunist, asserting that he was not surprised by Sabally’s defection to the NPP.

‘’We all know how Sabally came to the United Democratic Party. It’s the people of the North Bank Region, who stood by him, until he became famous,’’ Mr. Njie said in an exclusive interview with this medium.

He said Sabally has accused the Barrow government of mismanaging the country’s funds and he was the staunchest critic of government.

“Everyone knows that in this country. So, what has changed all of a sudden until Sabally endorses NPP? We all heard what Sabally said to the government in the past years. So, if he turned to become government’s supporter today, then I think we should question that issue. Since that is the case now, then Sabally and the government are in the same boat,’’ Njie added.

The UDP NBR spokesperson further stated that Saballythought he has disappointed UDP, not knowing that he betrayed himself, considering the frequent attacks and accusations.

“The economic situation of the country with other issues is affecting the citizens but all what the government is interested in is how to bribe people to join NPP,” Njie said.

He explained that Sabally promised not to attack Ousainou Darboe but that if any UDP member attack him, he will be ready to counter-attack without any hesitation.

“We are also watching. Sabally claimed that the youths were behind him and I assure him that the youths of North Bank lost hope in him. Since he left the UDP, it has not added any value neither did it affect the party. That alone should educate him. The youths are now aware that it is only UDP that can rescue the country. The people of North Bank have decided to follow the right path,’’ Mr. Njie emphasized.

He maintained that the UDP is rules and regulations-based party.

‘’We don’t bribe people to join our party. I urge Saballyto be careful with his actions and words. The youths are ready for another change in 2026. The Government has failed the citizens and it is high time the citizens do the needful before it’s late,’’ Njie underlined.
