UDP against presidential advisers mentioned at Supreme Court

By Bruce Asemota

A representative of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Senior State Counsel M B Sowe, has informed the Supreme Court, presided over by Justice Awa Bah, sitting as a single judge, that the State would file its statement of case before the end of the week in the case involving Ebrima Dibba and United Democratic Party (UDP) against presidential advisers, the Public Service Commission and the Attorney General.

Dibba and the UDP are asking the Supreme Court to declare the appointment of certain presidential advisers as unconstitutional since they are members of political parties.

-During yesterday’s proceedings, senior lawyer Ida Drammeh, representing the Public Service Commission indicated that she has filed her defence in the case but she needs to confirm when personal service was made on her clients, the PSC and Dembo Bojang.

That matter was adjourned to 31 October for further mentioning by which the state would have filed its defence.

Meanwhile, a similar case involving Dibba and the UDP came up against the AG, PSC and presidential advisers Lamin Saidy, Sulayman Camara, Henry Gomez, Lamin Cham and Dodou Sano.

These cases too were adjourned to the 31 October, 2023 for further mentioning. Lawyers Ousainu Darboe, Neneh Cham and Ya-Kumba Jaiteh appeared for Ebrima Dibba and the UDP.
