The regional police commander, some executives of the Gambia Livestock Owners Association and local authorities were on Monday at Sanyang police station, where suspected stolen livestock were brought for safe-keeping and identification. Sources said 38 animals, including sheep and goats have been recovered by the police. Two heads of cattle have also been reportedly recovered by the police and the cattle were reportedly stolen from Jambajelly. Five individuals were suspected of involvement in the cattle theft but reports indicated that four of them have been arrested while one was at large. The Voice gathered that there was a spike in livestock theft in Kombo South, Kombo North and Kombo Central

In another development, the police in the Central River Region(CRR) have launched investigation into the alleged theft of over 100 sheep.

According to reliable sources, suspected thieves have made away with 125 sheep from Sami.
