Essa Faal and Seedy Njie
Seedy: Essa, we would like you to consider joining our coalition. If you decide to come on board, you would be considered for a significant role in the new government.
Essa: I appreciate the offer. Let me consult with my wife and family before making a decision.
Seedy: Of course. Take your time and discuss it with your family. If you wish, I can also facilitate a meeting with His Excellency so that you can discuss the matter directly.
One week later
Essa: I have given the matter some thought. Would it be acceptable for me to prepare a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining the terms of our proposed alliance and share it with your team for consideration?
Seedy: (Laughs) Essa, the lawyer. That is fine. Prepare the draft and send it to me when it is ready. We will review it with the team.
A few days later
Seedy: Essa, I have reviewed your draft, and I am not sure my team will be comfortable with some of the conditions you have proposed. When Mama Kandeh joined the coalition, he did not put forward similar conditions.
Essa: I understand your position. In that case, you can review the draft and make the necessary amendments. Once you have done so, we can compare our positions and see whether we can reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
Seedy: That sounds reasonable. Let us continue the discussions and see where we can find common ground.
Negotiations between the two sides are ongoing.
